Lerøy harvests fewer fish in third quarter

Norwegian fish farmer Lerøy, which co-owns Scottish Sea Farms, harvested 44,200 tonnes (gutted weight) of salmon and trout in the third quarter of this year, down from 46,000 gwt in Q3 2019, it said in a market update.

More in 2020

From the beginning of the year until the end September, 20,200 gwt have been harvested in Lerøy Aurora, 52,300 gwt in Lerøy Midt, and 50,000 gwt in Lerøy Sjøtroll. This amounts to a total of 122,500 gwt for the first nine months of 2020, a 7,100 gwt increase compared to the 115,400 gwt harvested in the same period in 2019.

In Lerøy Sjøtroll, trout accounted for 53% of the harvest volume in Q3, and 42% for the year to date.

Lerøy and fellow Norwegian salmon farmer SalMar each own a 50% stake in Scottish Sea Farms and count it as an associate company rather than a subsidiary. SSF’s harvest volumes are not included in their production totals.

Lerøy’s full third-quarter report will be published on November 11.
