SalMar harvested 43,600 tonnes in Q4
Norwegian salmon farmer SalMar – which co-owns Scottish Sea Farms – harvested 43,600 tonnes gutted weight (tgw) of fish in Norway and Iceland in the final quarter of 2020, it said in a trading update today.
SalMar harvested 20,900 tgw in central Norway, 19,100 tgw in northern Norway and 3,600 tgw in Iceland.
In its Q3 2020 report, SalMar said it had harvested 118,000 tgw in the first nine months of the year and expected a full year total of 164,000 tgw - 152,000 tgw in Norway and 12,000 tgw in Iceland - “with the flexibility to optimise the harvesting profile”.
Today’s figures take SalMar’s actual 2020 total to slightly less, 161,600 gwt.
The company’s full Q4 report will be released on February 25.
Scottish Sea Farms’ harvest volumes are not counted in SalMar’s total because SalMar does not have a majority share and the company is therefore classed as an associate, not a subsidiary. SalMar and fellow Norwegian salmon farmer Lerøy each own 50% off SSF’s parent company, Norskott Havbruk.
