Dutch fly farmer Protix, which supplies insect-based ingredients for feed and food, has appointed Piotr Postepski as chief commercial officer (CCO) as of August 2024.

Protix said Postepski’s career spans various leadership roles in the pharmaceutical sector, across different geographies, and he is a seasoned professional with an impressive track record in developing new business.

Trained as a veterinarian, he holds a master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Agricultural University of Lublin, Poland, and has studied management, leadership and financial at Warsaw School of Economics and London Business School.

Strong momentum

Protix said Postepski will help drive international, proitable expansion. He will be responsible for the overall commercial strategy, leading the sales team, marketing and business development activities as well as product development.

The company said there is a strong momentum for insect ingredients, and that it had transitioned to become the leading commercial scale insect solutions company with international expansion.

Protix farms black soldier flies (BSF), using waste from the food industry as a substrate for larvae which are processed into protein and lipids. Fly and larvae frass (excrement) is used as a fertiliser.

The company recently signed an agreement with Scotland-based smolt producer Landcatch – part of Dutch company Hendrix Genetics - to supply insect-based protein for feed.
