Scottish Sea Farms triathlon boosts charities
Employees of Scottish Sea Farms, plus their friends and families, as well as suppliers, have raised more than £35,000 for charity at a triathlon festival at Stirling University Sports Campus.
Olympic Games medallist Michael Jamieson attended the event at the weekend and gave participants tips on swimming, as well as presenting prize winners with their medals.
Teams from Shetland, Orkney, Argyll and the Highlands all travelled to Stirling – where Scottish Sea Farms has its administrative and sales HQ – for the day, having trained for months prior to the event.
Charities were nominated by employees, including the Beatson Cancer Charity, Glasgow Children’s Hospital, Cancer Research UK, Brain Tumour Research, Samaritans Scotland and the UK Sepsis Trust.
Scottish companies and organisations entering teams included Farne Salmon, DFDS, Biomar, SAIC, Associated Seafood, JCS and Northern Lights.
The event is part of the Scottish Sea Farms’ Year of Health and Fitness, which has a host of internal initiatives aimed at encouraging the workforce to live healthier lifestyles.
Jim Gallagher, managing director of Scottish Sea Farms, said: “The triathlon was a huge success and our staff and suppliers were truly amazing raising so much cash for charity. Our product is all about healthy eating so this is a perfect fit. It was a great day for the company and we hope we can make it a regular event.”
