SalMar Q1 harvest increases by 13%
Norwegian salmon farmer SalMar harvested 40,000 tonnes in the first quarter of 2020, it said in an update today. The harvest is an increase of 4,500 tonnes, or 13%, on the same period in 2019.
SalMar, which shares 50/50 ownership of Scottish Sea Farms with fellow Norwegian salmon farmer Lerøy, harvested 22,200 gutted weight tonnes (Q1 2019 18,200 gwt) in its Farming Central Norway region, and 13,600 gwt (15,100 gwt) in its Farming Northern Norway region.
A further 4,300 gwt (2,100 gwt) came from its Icelandic subsidiary, Arnarlax.
Volume harvested by Scottish Sea Farms is not counted, as it is classed as an associate company, not a subsidiary.
