Driver beaten

A group of people is reported to have intimidated the driver of the Orion company’s truck. After being forced to stop, the driver was beaten and forced to drive in the direction of Yumbel.

The regional commander of the Carabineros de Chile (Chilean national police force), Lieutenant Colonel Alejandro Halabí, explained that a person who saw what happened called the police. The vehicle was located and the perpetrators of the theft were arrested.

The police proceedings are ongoing and are focused on determining if the detainees were also part of a gang that violently robbed truckers on Route 5 South, the official said.

The driver is in good condition, with minor injuries, said Halabí.
