The board is very pleased that Frank has accepted the newly created position as Group Chief Executive. Smir Group is experiencing high demand and momentum in all our areas, and it is therefore important to ensure that the group’s combined resources are used in the best possible way. We are confident that Frank will follow up our employees and our customers in a good way, says chairman of Smir Group, Torbjørn Gjelsvik, in a press release.

Øren has extensive experience from the aquaculture industry. He has been a salmon farmer since 1990, and has many years of experience from the Mowi-system, including at board level. In 2021, he left his role as General Manager at the fish farming company Midt-Norsk Havbruk, and started full-time as Head of Business Development in Smir Group, the company he founded with his business partner Odd Einar Grøntvedt in 2015.

He will now oversee 75 employees in a group that is experiencing strong growth.

I am grateful for the trust the board are showing me, and really look forward to working more with all employees in combination with overall strategies. Our employees are our most important resource, and since we are growing strongly both in scope and geographically, it will be important to focus on the people, says Øren.

Then it will be difficult to put down some of the tasks I have had in the past, as the development of new technology interests me very much. It is important to leave it to others, but I will likely continue to get myself involved in the future as well, he adds.

Smir Group is an aquaculture technology and service group with branches in Langevåg, Trondheim, Bjugn, and Rørvik in Norway, and in Scotland and Chile. Øren will continue to have his office in Rørvik.
