Olavur Gregersen, Managing Director of Ocean Rainforest, is due to kick-off proceedings with a presentation that covers cultivation, harvest, marketing and accreditation of seaweeds.

Another highlight is set to be Ian Archer’s presentation on the uses of seaweeds in biotech industries.

The event is taking place at the Corran Halls, in Oban, on November 16th and the current line-up includes speakers from Scotland Food & Drink, Friend of the Sea, Marine Scotland, Food Standards Scotland, Highlands & Islands Enterprise and Argyll & Bute Council.

The day is due to wind up with a panel discussion before closing comments are offered by Alex Adrian, from the Crown Estate.

SSIA Chair, Walter Speirs, told Fish Farming Expert: “This should be an interesting event, with growers, harvesters, regulators and academia coming together for the first time. Anyone who has an interest in any aspect of this up and coming industry should attend.”
