The news comes as Scottish salmon farmers are exhibiting at the Japanese Seafood Show (17 – 19 August) to meet trade buyers.

Compared to the same period in 2015, salmon exports to Japan have grown by 127% to reach a value close to £2m.

Scott Landsburgh, Chief Executive of the Scottish Salmon Producers’ Organisation (SSPO), said: “Scottish salmon farmers are capitalising on growing global demand for high quality fish. The international reputation of Scottish salmon for quality and provenance is well established around the world.”
