Norway salmon price close to last year’s peak

The spot price for Norwegian salmon rose by NOK 3.39/kg last week (week 16) to NOK 121.88 (£9.22) per kilo, according to industry data organisation Akvafakta.

That price is NOK 10.78/kg above the same week last year, and only NOK 1.51/kg above last year’s highest value which came in week 17.

The average spot salmon price for Norwegian salmon so far this year is NOK 106.78/kg compared to NOK 84.50/kg for the corresponding period last year.

Norway exported 24,607 tonnes (round weight) in week 16, which was 21.4% more than in the same week last year, which was then the week after Easter.

So far this year, Norway has exported 369,000 tonnes of salmon, 7.2% less than during the same period last year.
