Pentair is a water treatment company incorporated in Ireland with tax residency in UK, with its main U.S. office located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Pentair was founded in the US.

The company released an offical statement on Thursday confirming the changes.

“Pentair has made the decision to shut down portions of its aquaculture business, which provides service, equipment and technology for the aquaculture industry. While we believe the aquaculture business offers attractive long term opportunities, the short term business model does not meet our expectations. Pentair is looking to focus its aquatic systems segment on its core competencies in the residential and commercial pool segments.

“Aquaculture is a small business within Pentair’s approximately $1 billion aquatic systems segment. Pentair has begun the process to market and sell portions of the aquaculture business including the legacy Vaki business, Chile operations and the online catalog operation, which we plan to operate business as usual as we navigate through the sale process. We are dedicated to ensuring a smooth transition for our customers, and are committed to providing resources to help employees through the transition”, said the statement.

It is unknown how many Pentair employees will be impacted.
