Norway salmon price starts the year with a rise
The new year began with an increase in both the price and export volume of Norwegian salmon.
Industry statistics provider Akvafakta reported that the spot price of salmon increased by NOK 1.95 / kg to NOK 65.32 / kg (£5.50) in week 1. That price is NOK 14.58 / kg higher than in the first week of 2020.
Norway exported 26,274 tonnes (round weight) in week 1, which was not unexpectedly up from the 21,789 tonnes that were exported in the quieter Christmas week, but also up by 2.7% from the first week last year.
