Ex-MP named Norway's new seafood envoy for UK
A former Norwegian MP, Hans Frode Kielland Asmyhr, has been appointed the Norwegian Seafood Council's new envoy in Britain and will take up the position in London on September 1.
Kielland Asmyhr, 47, comes from Panor Public Affairs, where he has been a partner. From 2005-2013, he was a member of Norway's parliament, the Storting, for the Progressive Party, and was a member of the Parliament's industry committee, the Seafood Council said in a statement.
"It is absolutely crucial for the Norwegian seafood industry to thoroughly follow Brexit and what consequences it may have for the export of Norwegian seafood to the UK and EU. Kielland Asmyhr has substantial knowledge of the UK and European issues in general, which will give Norwegian Seafood greater expertise in this area," said Janne Log, the Seafood Council's director of global operations, public relations and communications.
The Seafood Council - which promotes Norwegian fisheries and aquaculture products with the Seafood From Norway label - has had an envoy in Britain for four years and as one of the single most important markets for Norwegian seafood, interest in what happens in connection with Brexit is great. Kielland Asmyhr knows the political environment in London well .
Challenging market
"I'm looking forward to taking on this challenging task and begin working for one of the most important industries in a challenging market," said Kielland Asmyhr.
"Norwegian seafood is making Norwegians proud when we travel around the world and it will continue to boost its export position in the coming years. I am incredibly proud to be part of this team."
The Seafood Council's outgoing delegate in Britain, Jack Robert Møller, is taking on a new role in the shrimp industry.
The Seafood Council also has representatives in Stockholm, Hamburg, Paris, Madrid, Lisbon, Milan, Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, Singapore, Shanghai and Boston.
