Steinsvik’s new UK boss ‘to build team around customers’
Norwegian fish farming equipment manufacturer Steinsvik has said it has the opportunity for a “reboot” in the UK after announcing the appointment of Innes Weir as its new UK general manager.
Weir, who has more than 30 years’ experience in aquaculture, was most recently general manager of Cooke Aquaculture Pacific on the west coast of the United States, and is a former marine site manager for Scottish Sea Farms.
Weir, who joined Steinsvik’s Inverness-based UK team on February 26, said: “I plan on visiting and meeting with all our customers and developing a deep understanding of their business goals and values, whilst ensuring they are updated on the latest developments available from Steinsvik.
“We have the opportunity to build and develop the UK team around our customers. We understand just how important skilled, motivated staff are to the industry. We employ local people, with an affinity to our core values and a real desire to assist the UK aquaculture industry in its efforts to develop and meet new challenges.
“Me personally, and Steinsvik as a company, believe that customer service is the cornerstone of any business relationship.”
He added: “We have identified on-site training, educational resources, proactive service agreements and schedules as some of the areas we would like to roll out. We also value customer feedback and will ensure contact with skilled technicians is always available, seven days a week, 365 days a year.”
Steinsvik makes the Thermolicer, along with steel feed barges with a capacity of up to 850 tonnes, feeding systems, steel cages and other items used in fish farming.
