Salmon price up but still way below 2019

The spot price for Norwegian salmon rose by more than three kroner last week, the largest weekly price increase in around two months.

According to figures from salmon price data provider Akvafakta, the spot price rose by NOK 3.19 to NOK 44.14 (£3.72) in week 47.

The price was NOK 15.44 higher during the same week last year. The year-on-year price difference has only been higher on two other occasions this year, in weeks 16 and 17.

NOK 54.99 average

The average salmon spot price so far this year is NOK 54.99 per kilo, compared to NOK 55.84 at the same time last year.

Norway exported 28,248 tonnes (round weight) of salmon in week 46. This is 0.7% more than in the same week in 2019. Total exports so far in 2020 amount to 1.11 million tonnes, 200,000 fewer tonnes than in the same period last year.
