New boat for Northern Harvest
The newest member of the Northern Harvest Seafarms' fleet stopped for fuel in a lobster-fishing harbour on Eastern PEI yesterday, before heading home to Newfoundland.
Northern Harvest Seafarms has taken delivery of a new maintenance barge, the Northern Dawn, to improve operations in Pools Cove, Newfoundland.
Much larger than other boats owned by the company, the 63 foot Northern Dawn was launched July 5th from its birthplace of Gaspé, Quebec.
The builder, Chantier Naval Forillon Inc, is well-known for quality of its vessels, which it has been building for more than 60 years, offering turnkey solutions for the construction, repair and maintenance of fishing boats, barges, tugs and ferries with steel or aluminium hulls.
Before making the 50+ hr sail to Newfoundland, the barge first stopped for fuel in North Lake Harbour, Eastern PEI - the first ever appearance of a boat of its size in the small-craft harbour.
