Norway extends permit auction deadline
Norway’s fisheries and seafood minister Odd Emil Ingebrigtsen has extended the deadline for salmonid farmers to register for the auction of extra biomass.
Companies have until next Tuesday, July 21, to apply to join the auction.
For various reasons, some salmon farmers have missed the deadlines for participating in the sale of extra biomass allowances.
Increased employment
“We have now changed the deadlines so that business players who have not yet signed up get a new opportunity,” said Ingebrigtsen.
“The more companies that take part in the growth, the more places along the coast we can have increased value creation and employment.”
Much of the money raised by sale of extra biomass permits is given to the local authorities where the fish farming takes place.
Extra volume unchanged
The July 21 deadline applies to companies registering to participate in the auction to be held on August 18.
The deadline for buying growth at a fixed price, or so-called exceptional growth, has been extended until next Friday, July 24.
These changes do not result in any change in the total volume that will be available for sale.
