Mowi announces the change in a stock exchange announcement on Thursday.

Ole-Eirik Lerøy said it has been an honour to be a part of Mowi during the period in which the company has become the world's largest supplier of farmed salmon.

"The company is perfectly positioned to continue its growth journey towards the recently announced ambitions for 2029. The company is stronger than ever, the prospects are good, and the timing is right to hand over the baton. I look forward to seeing the company grow and develop in the future," said Lerøy.

An industry veteran

Lerøy joined the company in 2009/2010, and since then the company has developed with aquaculture operations in Norway, Scotland, Ireland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Canada, and Chile. With headquarters in Bergen, Norway, Mowi today has 11,500 employees in 26 countries around the world.

John Fredriksen, Mowi's largest shareholder, praised Ole-Eirik Lerøy's efforts and significance for the company's growth over the last 15 years.

"Ole-Eirik is a true industry veteran and has been instrumental in the development of the strong Mowi organization. We greatly appreciate his contributions over the past 15 years, which will provide a solid foundation for future value creation," said John Fredriksen, representative for Mowi's largest shareholder.

The nomination committee wrote in the stock exchange announcement that they wished to thank Lerøy for his long service as chairman of Mowi.

"The nomination committee will propose that the extraordinary general meeting (EGM) elects Ørjan Svanevik as chairman. The company will convene an EGM in the near future," the message stated.

Broad experience

Svanevik holds the position of investment director at Seatankers. He has extensive operational experience, including roles as CEO of Arendals Fossekompani, head of merges and acquisitions at Aker, and CEO of Kværner, in addition to having chairman and board positions in publicly listed companies such as Mowi, Volue, Seadrill, and Archer.
