Ex-Mowi Canada East boss takes charge at Poseidon
Jamie Gaskill appointed CEO of supplier as company plans next phase of growth
Jamie Gaskill, a former managing director of salmon farmer Mowi Canada East, has been appointed chief executive of aquaculture equipment manufacturer Poseidon Ocean Systems, based in Campbell River, British Columbia.
Gaskill is already a board member of the company and will replace co-founder and current CEO Matt Clarke, who will become chief technology officer.
Poseidon, which supplies steel pen assemblies and fuel-efficient air and oxygen diffusion systems, said Gaskill brings more than 30 years of salmon farming experience to the company, much of it acquired at Mowi / Marine Harvest.
“We are incredibly excited to bring Jamie in house as our CEO,” said Clarke. “This is the natural next step in our efforts to build a senior management team capable of achieving Poseidon’s goal of being a global leader in aquaculture technology.
“We’ve had the privilege of working closely with Jamie as a key member of the Poseidon board for the past 18 months and are confident that Jamie’s years of experience in the industry and passion for business are the perfect fit to take on the role of CEO to lead us into the next phase of our growth.”
Meaningful change
Gaskill said: “I’ve been impressed by the impact that Poseidon has had in the industry over the past seven years, and I’m excited to contribute to the development of new technologies and make meaningful change in areas such as reducing carbon emissions and improving farmers’ yields. My family and I are also looking forward to returning to Campbell River.”
The new Poseidon CEO spent 10 years with Marine Harvest in British Columbia from 2005 to 2015, first as freshwater production director and then production director. He then spent two and a half years as regional director for Marine Harvest Norway South before becoming MD at Mowi Canada East between August 2017 and October 2020.
Gaskill has spent the last two years working as a consultant.
