It is the first time in several years that Mowi has supplied the retailer with a finished product, the company said on its website.

Richard Barlow, Mowi’s national account manager said: “We are absolutely delighted that the MOWI range is available at Tesco. As the largest supermarket in the UK, it is great to take our premium range to so many shoppers.

“We are confident that our range will perform well, recruiting new consumers and continuing to drive category growth as we have witnessed since launching earlier this year.”

2-for-£7 offer

The MOWI range comprises Rich Cold Smoked Salmon Slices (100g); Piri Piri Slow Roast Salmon Fillets (180g) and Fresh Scottish Salmon Fillets (230g).

This month, the MOWI fresh fillets will be part of the 2-for-£7 deal that Tesco is running across various meats in more than 880 stores.

MOWI-brand smoked salmon and fillets are also sold by Sainsbury’s, which sources its own-brand salmon from Mowi Scotland. Sainsbury’s is currently selling MOWI salmon fillets for £4, a reduction of 50p, and MOWI smoked salmon for £4, down from £5.

High omega 3

Both Tesco and Sainsbury’s offer the products online, as well as instore.

Mowi says its MOWI-branded fish contain a high proportion of omega 3. A MOWI fillet, as consumed, contains 2,132mg of omega 3, of which 1,107mg comprises the long-chain fatty acids DHA and EPA, linked with various health benefits.
