Mexico chosen to host World Aquaculture 2021
The World Aquaculture Society’s showpiece annual event, World Aquaculture 2021, will be held in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico from November 15 to 19 at the Yucatan International Convention Centre (CIC).
World Aquaculture is one the most important aquaculture events at the international level for the exchange of information.
It attracts a huge number of participants from all over the globe and generates links and cooperation between universities and institutions, producers, the business and government sector.
Site visits
WA2021 will include the participation of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and other international organisations.
There will be multiple presentations, workshops, business meetings, a trade exhibition, art gallery, technical visits to farms and process plants in the region, and various events dedicated to building professional networks.
In a press release, organisers said Mérida is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, as well as being considered one of the jewels of Latin America.
Aquaculture potential
The Yucatan International Convention Center is an ecologically responsible building, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, built under the LEED Green Building certification system. It also has “El Cenote” inside it, an underwater river that makes it unique.
Due to the richness of its natural and hydrological resources, Mexico is considered one of the countries with the greatest aquaculture potential in the world, stated the WAS.
This event is expected to be a watershed in the evolution of the activity not only in the peninsula but throughout the country.
