Scottish Sea Farms owners harvested almost 73,000 tonnes of fish in Q2
Norwegian salmon farming heavyweights SalMar and Lerøy, which each own a 50% stake in Scottish Sea Farms, harvested 36,600 gutted weight tonnes and 36,700 gwt of fish respectively in the second quarter of 2021, the companies said in market updates today.
Lerøy’s harvest volume includes 4,500 gwt of trout. The company harvested 5,200 gwt of fish in northern Norway, 14,900 gwt in central Norway and 16,600 gwt in the south of the country.
The harvest volume is 2,200 gwt smaller than in Q2, 2020. Lerøy’s harvest volume for the first half of 2021 is 78,900 gwt (H1 2020: 78,300 gwt).
SalMar’s Q2 volume comprised 21,000 gwt from central Norway, 13,300 gwt from northern Norway, and 2,300 gwt from its Icelandic Salmon subsidiary. SalMar harvested 40,900 gwt in the same period last year.
As neither company owns a majority share in Scottish Sea Farms, that company’s harvest volumes are not included in their figures.
