Strike averted after salmon farmer and workers agree 'sustainable solutions'

A Norwegian salmon farmer that was facing a strike tomorrow by workers over union recognition has reached agreement with its staff.

“We are very happy that together with our employees we have found good, sustainable solutions, which look after our employees and the business in the best possible way,” Kurt Svendsen, managing director of Lofoten fish farming company Isqueen, said in a press release.

“We would like to thank our employees for a constructive dialogue and good process and look forward to continued good cooperation.”

Norway’s largest private sector union Fellesforbundet (the United Federation of Trade Unions) announced last week that 21 employees in the company would go on strike on Tuesday if the company and the employees did not get a collective agreement signed.
