Suspected ISA at Ocean Farm 1
Norwegian salmon farmer SalMar has reported the suspected presence of infectious salmon anaemia (ISA) at its pioneering Ocean Farm 1 cage.
In a stock exchange announcement, SalMar stated that Ocean Farm 1 had today been notified that a routine sampling had found suspected ISA at facility in the Håbranden locality in Frøya municipality.
Harvesting at the site, which contained approximately one million fish, was completed by January 20 this year. At this time the production zones of Frøya North and Froan were fallowed and empty of fish.
The closest site to Ocean Farm 1 was emptied of fish in October 2018 and thus the possible risk of infection to other plants is considered as small, the company said.
