It caps a successful few months for Marine Harvest employee Scott Forder, who was also recently promoted from farm technician at Torridon to farm manager at Loch Ewe.

Lecturer and assessor Murray Stark said: “In my view Scott has excelled in his SVQ Aquaculture assessments, and it has helped him in his promotion within the company as well.

“He was a clear winner for this award this year.”

Forder was pipped at the post by Scottish Sea Farms employee Alan Tangny, from Mull, for LANTRA Aquaculture Learner of the Year.

Stark said credit had also to be given to Marine Harvest deckhand / engineer Jordan Wildman for the “amazing work and dedication” he put into achieving his SVQ/MA Aquaculture level 3 qualification.

“He produced some of the best work I had ever seen,” said Stark.
