Cabinet Secretary faces salmon inquiry
Fergus Ewing, Cabinet Secretary for the Rural Economy and Connectivity, was today due to give evidence to the Scottish Parliament’s Rural Economy and Connectivity committee inquiry into Scottish salmon farming, starting at 10am.
Mike Palmer, deputy director aquaculture of Crown Estate Scotland, Alastair Mitchell, Marine Scotland’s head of aquaculture and recreational fisheries, and Charles Allan, head of the Fish Health Inspectorate.
It is the final evidence session in the inquiry, which has taken evidence from a wide range of witnesses and has also received dozens of written submissions.
Ewing is a supporter of salmon farming and the industry’s plans to increase production and value.
