Maritech completes Sea Data Center acquisition

Seafood industry software, analysis and Internet of Things (IoT) supplier Maritech Systems has completed its buy-out of Icelandic company Sea Data Center, a specialist in seafood market insights.

Norway-based Maritech became the majority owner of Sea Data Center in 2019 and has now acquired 100% of the shares, enfolding the company into Maritech Iceland.

“Together we are bringing together a unique set of market intelligence and benchmarking tools,” Maritech’s vice president data science Oddvar Husby said in a press release.

Pricing trends

“This allows our customers to overlay the latest seafood market supply and pricing trends against their own data, highly valuable insights for the seafood industry worldwide. The services support seafood professionals in their decision making processes and improves their company operations, providing the big picture view on market developments and supply and price trends.

“I would especially like to highlight the unique data we now gain full ownership to, regarding wild catch in the Atlantic Ocean. Now we are working on how we can use this data even better to strengthen our customers.”
