Trout farmer Kames names Neil Manchester as new MD
Scottish trout producer Kames Fish Farming today announced that Neil Manchester will be joining its senior management as managing director designate at the start of August 2021 and will take up the full position as managing director on February 1, 2022.
Manchester has over 35 years’ experience in aquaculture and began his fish farming career at Kames in 1985, before moving to Landcatch in 1998 and then Hendrix Genetics in 2011.
Kames said that as managing director of aquaculture at Hendrix Genetics he had been instrumental in developing the Dutch company as a global leading player in the aquaculture breeding sector.
Right credentials
Stuart Cannon, who has been managing director of Kames since 1972, will stand down from that role on February 1, and take on the role of chairman. Current chairman Ed Gully will remain on the board as a non-executive director, together with Andrew Cannon, Jim Gully, and finance director Allan MacIsaac.
“We are very pleased that Neil is re-joining our Kames family and we are confident that he has all the right credentials to continue our strategy, development and expansion of Kames,” the company said in a press release.
“This is a very exciting and positive step and we look forward to 50 more successful years for Kames.”
Kames Fish Farming, based at Kilmelford, south of Oban, plans to expand annual production from 2,000 tonnes to 5,000 tonnes per year by 2023. The company has four seawater sites in Argyll and one at Loch Pooltiel, Skye.
