Farm assurance body seeks a Changemaker

Aquaculture, agriculture, and floriculture farm assurance programme GLOBALG.A.P has launched a new award to celebrate global stakeholders who foster positive change.

The inaugural Changemaker Award is centred on those who have made a significant contribution to society through their innovative practices and forward-thinking concepts.

There are three categories - for producers, certification bodies, and retailers – and entry to the award is open from tomorrow until May 10.

Potential initiatives may include aspects such as responsible farming practices, industry innovation, smart approaches to resource efficiency, reduction in environmental impact, the well-being of communities and supply chain stakeholders, and much more.

Broad spectrum

In order to encourage and inspire creativity in the application process there are no requirements or predefined criteria for applying, although any retailer and certification body applying must either be a GLOBALG.A.P. community member or have any affiliation with GLOBALG.A.P. Producers must demonstrate that their production processes count on a GLOBALG.A.P. certification.

Nine shortlisted nominees will be presented at the GLOBALG.A.P. summit in Warsaw in September, where their profiles and accomplishments will be given premium visibility. The ultimate winners of the award will be determined by a vote of attendees.

Participation and application for the Changemaker Awards is free of charge. The invitation to the summit in Warsaw is also free of charge for the nine shortlisted candidates.

Portfolio of standards

GLOBALG.A.P. (Good Agricultural Practice) is a brand of smart farm assurance solutions built on a portfolio of standards for safe and responsible production processes in agriculture, aquaculture, and floriculture.

Members are given a unique identification number that can be used on products and enables consumers to look up details about the producing company on the GLOBALG.A.P. website.
