Dr Annette Boerlage, an aquatic epidemiologist working at Scotland’s Rural College, Inverness will give an overview of marine gill diseases in Atlantic salmon and risk factors for marine gill diseases and will highlight some recent developments in research.

Dr Sean Monaghan, who currently leads two projects developing oral vaccination strategies for sea lice, and optimising vaccine regimes for ballan wrasse, will then summarise the importance and practical applications of vaccination as a prophylactic tool in the prevention and control of bacterial and viral diseases afflicting established (salmonid) and expanding (e.g., sea bass, sea bream, catfish) fish markets.

The webinar, which begins at 1pm, is free but those attending must register for the event here.

The Fish Veterinary Society has provided the webinars as an alternative to its annual conference, which it was unable to stage because of Covid restrictions.
