Maritech wins software contract from Firda Seafood
Aquaculture software supplier Maritech has announced a new contract with Norwegian salmon and trout farmer Firda Seadood.
The deal includes digital tools for sales and traceability, integrated with packing.
“We know Maritech and they were a natural choice for us”, said Firda chief executive Jon Gunnar Kviebakk in a press release.
“Their solutions are tailor-made for our industry. They are best of breed and require far less customisation than generic software. Maritech knows our processes, our possibilities and our challenges. Furthermore, they are also expanding rapidly, and we see Maritech as a partner to grow with.”
Local jobs
Maritech sales manager Johan Petter Loe said: “We are very pleased to have been chosen as a partner for Firda Seafood.
“Their growth and their achievements are highly impressive, also beyond seafood. They create many local jobs and enable small communities to be sustainable and thriving. At the moment they are establishing a new kindergarten and plant close to their main office in Byrknesøy.”
Firda is experiencing strong growth and the contract with Maritech is closely related to its further expansion and focus on traceability.
10,000 tonnes MAB
The family-owned firm has four smolt facilities and 14 farm licences with a total maximum allowed biomass of 10,104 tonnes.
It owns its own processing plant which can handle 150 tonnes per shift.
Maritech is a majority owner in the seafood analysis company Sea Data Center in Iceland and recently bought Internet of Things company Lillebakk AS. Maritech is owned by Scandinavian seafood investor Broodstock Capital Partners, which also has majority stakes in recirculating aquaculture systems specialist Billund Aquaculture and net washer manufacturer Multi Pump Innovation (MPI).
