Both companies produce industrial sewing/fabric for aquaculture, agriculture, construction and offshore sectors.

In a press release, Fiizk said NWP will be an integral part of its investment in the development and production of industrial sewing in Norway. NWP's factory at Frekhaug outside Bergen will be an important part of this investment.

Fiizk produces a semi-closed containment system with a fabric wall that keeps out lice and harmful algal blooms. Click on image to enlarge.

More than 130 employees

From January 1, 2021, the Fiizk Group will comprise more than 130 employees, more than half of whom are engaged in the development, production and recycling of fabric products for the Norwegian and international markets.

Other employees in the group develop and produce closed cages and software for the aquaculture industry. The collaboration between NWP and Fiizk will provide increased flexibility and transfer of expertise between the factories.

Increased capacity

“In the future, our customers will be able to benefit from increased production capacity as well as rapid and innovative product development,” said the companies.

NWP’s products include delousing tarpaulins, lighting control tents and water basins. Fiizk also produces those items, along with trusses and steel walkways, entrances, platforms and stairs for land-based sites.

It has also produced the semi-closed containment system being used by salmon farmer Cermaq to grow smolts to 1kg in Norway. The system is being trialled by Cermaq Canada to grow fish to harvest size in British Columbia.
