Julie Hesketh-Laird, the chief executive of the Scottish Salmon Producers’ Organisation, has urged the Scottish and UK governments to encourage retailers to buy Scottish salmon.

Hesketh-Laird was speaking during an interview with Fish Farming Expert magazine, published online today, in which she also talked about the measures taken to ensure fish farming could continue during the Covid-19 lockdown, and the concessions made by regulators.

The CEO also addressed the possibility of producers having to freeze or even can fish because of the huge reduction in food service and export markets caused by the epidemic.
