The longstanding business partnership between Ferguson Transport & Shipping (FTS) and Mowi Scotland has been given a fresh look with delivery of new liveried Volvo trucks and tanker trailers for bespoke haulage of Mowi’s fresh salmon.

Ferguson has taken delivery of two top of the range Euro 6 low emission Volvo tractor units painted in Mowi’s livery, as well as 10 new Crossland fish tanker trailers. One of the tractor and trailer combinations was on display at Aquaculture UK in Aviemore last month.

A further four tractor units will join the fleet in the coming months to transport Mowi fish from a number of ports including the company’s salmon harvest station in Mallaig. The full fleet is expected to be delivered by the manufacturers over the next 12 months.

Scott Nolan, sales and operations director at Mowi - Scotland's biggest salmon farmer - said: “The quality and freshness of our salmon is paramount and is a reason why our salmon is the UK’s number one seafood choice and highest valued food export. The service provided by Lochaber’s Ferguson Transport & Shipping is vital to our success given that 40% of all Scottish salmon is processed through our dedicated facility in Fort William. It will be fantastic to see these units on the road.”

Alasdair Ferguson, group managing director of Ferguson Transport & Shipping, said: “The new liveried vehicles and tanks in Mowi colours recognises Ferguson Transport’s very proud history hauling fresh salmon for Mowi since 1996, and the mutual partnership and collaboration which has been forged over all these years investing in people and equipment now and in the future.

“We would like to express our gratitude for the trust and support Mowi has shown in our people and the services we provide. Great credit must go to the staff of both companies who manage the logistics and operations 24/7 to supply a sustainable protein fish diet to the UK and abroad. We are delighted to play our part.”
