Watch Mowi's new feed barge make a splash in the Netherlands

Netherlands boat builder Nauplius Workboats has released a video of the launch of the 400-tonne-capacity steel feed barge it recently constructed for Scottish aquaculture supplier Gael Force Group.

As is the case with the workboats Nauplius has built for Scottish fish farmers, the barge was launched sideways into a canal next to the Groningen company’s yard.

It has since been towed to the Gael Force yard at Inverness for fitting out before being delivered to Mowi Scotland, the country’s biggest salmon farmer.

Gael Force has constructed more than 100 feed barges but partnered with Nauplius for the first time so that it could meet the build requirements while its own facility was fully occupied with new and refurbished concrete barge projects.

Last year, Gael Force signed an agreement with Nauplius for the structural build of its steel barge hulls, along with surface treatments, and painting. Mechanical and electrical full fit-out and installation of the SeaFeed system is carried out by Gael Force in Inverness.
