Mowi’s Salmon Wagon raises £1,700 on public debut

Mowi Scotland’s ‘Salmon Wagon’ had a successful first public outing at the weekend, raising more than £1,700 at the two-day Eilean Dorcha Festival (EDF) on Benbecula.

The money, earned by selling salmon fillets either in a bun or on a noodle salad to hungry festival-goers, has been donated to the music festival’s funds. The salmon farmer was also principal sponsor for the event.

The food van – complete with Mowi salmon and chefs - will be made available for charities across Scotland to use at events, with proceeds from the sale of the food going straight to their funds.

‘A smash’

A Mowi spokesperson said: “The Salmon Wagon’s first public event at Benbecula was a smash and we’re thrilled to have donated all food sales back to the Festival.

“The atmosphere was amazing and most importantly, we raised £1,717.50 which will help ensure next year’s EDF is as exciting again. The feedback on social media suggests we’ve hit the mark with taste and quality: ‘Salmon Wagon serves the best barbecued salmon you’ll ever taste, simply outstanding!’ and ‘I should be going to events that have a Salmon Wagon...’

The Salmon Wagon’s next public outing will be at Lochaber Agricultural Games on Saturday, August 24.

From 2020, charities will be able to apply to have the Salmon Wagon at their event. Information on how to apply will be released later in the year.
