Lowest salmon price at highest weekly volume
Two annual records were set last week in terms of salmon export. The lowest price and the highest volume. But often, this is the time when things turn around.
The spot price of salmon fell by 1.57 kr/kg last week (week 35), down to 68.51 kr/kg. This is the lowest salmon price of the year and the first time it has been in the 60s.
The price is 1.16 kr/kg below the same week last year.
Last year, the current week was the lowest of the year, and as usual towards autumn, the price then rose towards Christmas and New Year.
The average spot price so far is 101.03 kr/kg, compared to 99.14 kr/kg a year ago.
Export
A total of 34,692 tons (LW) were exported in week 35. This is the highest volume for a week this year. It is 5% more than the week before, and 1.6% more than the same week in 2023.
So far this year, 847 thousand tons have been exported, 1.8% less than in the same period last year.
