"It's been the best attendance we've had for a while," Alistair Lane, Executive Director at European Aquaculture Society, told Fish Farming Expert, "helped by the fact that Scotland has a dynamic aquaculture industry that is also backed by strong governmental support."

"When we decided to host the event in Scotland, we asked the CEOs of all the major companies whether it would matter holding AE2016 in Scotland so soon after Aquaculture UK. They told us that Aquaculture UK happened every two years, but hosting Aquaculture Europe was a once in a lifetime opportunity - and the best thing is that they all turned up," Alistair adds.

As did a lot of other people.

Indeed, according to event organiser Mario Stael over 1700 people from 65 countries attended. The trade show included 92 booths, 32 technical sessions were held, over 330 oral presentations took place and over 60 industry meetings occurred.

"We had many more industry sessions and have had very positive feedback from delegates," he told Fish Farming Expert today.
