The company’s export partners provided transport and logistics for the donation, which left Norway on Saturday.

The shipment corresponds to approximately 60,000 meals and takes place in close collaboration with Firda’s business partners in Ukraine who will be responsible for repackaging and distribution.

Ukrainian employees

“We have an international working environment in Firda Seafood, including several Ukrainian employees who naturally are having very difficult days. It is therefore a pleasure that we and on behalf of our employees can make this small contribution in an otherwise very difficult situation,” Firda said in a press release.

Yesterday, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) said 364 civilians had been confirmed killed and 759 injured in Ukraine, while acknowledging that the real figures are likely “considerably higher”.

Around 1.5 million people have fled the country in the face of increasing Russian artillery and rocket attacks on cities.
