Salmon reaches highest price since March 2020
With a solid jump upwards, the market-setting price of Norwegian salmon price ended last week at a level that is the strongest since the Covid pandemic began to impact the sector in March last year.
The spot price for salmon rose by NOK 8.06 / kg to NOK 73.78 (£6.27) per kilo in week 19. This is the 18th best price ever.
The difference from the price in week 19 last year is NOK 25.92. Only 12 times before has there been a greater difference, most of these times were in the early summer and summer of 2016.
NOK 56.57 average
The average price so far this year is NOK 56.57 / kg. This is weaker than the NOK 62.63 / kg at the same time in 2020. The average price for the whole of 2020 was NOK 53.70 / kg.
Norway exported 21,792 tonnes (round weight) of salmon in week 18, 0.7% less than the same week last year.
So far this year, Norway has exported 462,000 tonnes of salmon, 20.7% more than a year ago.
