Cooke chief confident of ‘safe and successful’ seafood trade show in Boston

Glenn Cooke, chief executive of salmon farmer Cooke Inc., has given his backing to the staging of Seafood Expo North America (SENA) in March, following the decision of high-profile companies such as Cermaq, Mowi, and Peter Pan to pull out of the event because of the risks posed by the omicron variant of Covid-19.

“Cooke is strongly supportive of Seafood Expo North America being held in Boston this March,” said Cooke.

“It’s very important that the seafood industry continues building relationships with customers and suppliers in person. This forum enables companies to learn about product innovations and the next generation of value-added products which is key for the continued growth of the world’s healthiest protein. We believe it’s possible to have a safe and successful show.”

Social distance

Cooke Inc. said SENA has been a major event for the company for more than 30 years.

In a press release, the company said Cooke employees will be masked and maintaining social distance at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Centre, and that its team is looking forward to reuniting with customers and suppliers and getting back to business as usual at SENA. Cooke will follow all health & safety guidelines for the event.

Family-owned Cooke is one of the world’s largest salmon farmers, with operations in Canada, Scotland, the United States and Chile.
