The Norwegian cod farmer Norcod has discovered a hole in the net of one of its pens, it said in a stock market announcement today. It therefore suspects that an escape has occurred at the Labukta site located in Nesna, in Nordland.

The company states that it has set up emergency preparedness, sealed the hole, and is working to determine the extent of a possible escape and what caused the hole to occur.

The Directorate of Fisheries has been notified of the suspicion and recapture nets have been deployed. Norcod has also mobilised emergency fishermen, in accordance with the company's emergency procedures.
