World aquaculture conference switched from China to India

Event re-arranged for Hyderabad after Qingdao organisers take difficult decision to cancel

The date and location of this year’s World Aquaculture Society (WAS) conference have been changed. It will now be staged in Hyderabad, India, in November.

World Aquaculture 2025 was originally scheduled for April 24-27, in Qingdao, China, but that event has been cancelled. The WAS said the China Fisheries Society made the difficult decision after careful review and consideration of current circumstances.

“In response to this development, World Aquaculture Society has made the decision to move the event to India and replace it with World Aquaculture India, which will take place from November 10-13, 2025, ensuring that the event will continue in a new location,” the WAS said in a press release.

“This relocation allows us to continue providing an exceptional experience for our attendees. Despite the challenges posed by this change, we are committed to offering and ensuring a successful event and are excited about the opportunities in this new location presents.”

Hyderabad, in Telangana state, will host the WAS conference.

World Aquaculture 2025 INDIA will take place at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre – Novotel. The event marks the return of World Aquaculture to India after the successful Asian Pacific Aquaculture 2019 (APA19) event in Chennai.

“With aquaculture continuing to grow rapidly in the Asian-Pacific region and particularly in India, the 2025 event is the perfect time for the World Aquaculture community to focus on India again at Hyderabad,” WAS said.

“Hyderabad plays an important role in India’s maritime development with its advanced marine economy, robust marine industry and strong foundation in marine fishery, marine equipment manufacturing, and marine transportation.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to our attendees, partners, researchers, exhibitors and supporters, and we thank you for your understanding and continued support.”
