Export values drop 20%

The Chilean salmonid industry obtained returns of $3.5 billion in 2015, down 20 per cent compared to the previous year.

Chile exported US$ 3.074 million in salmon products (Atlantic and coho salmon) in 2015, down 16 per cent compared to the previous year, while rainbow trout exports were worth US$ 432 million in total, a decrease of 38 per cent.

2015's results were also 1.2 per cent lower than 2013 (US$ 3.549 billion), according to figures from the Central Bank of Chile.
