Camanchaca harvested more Atlantic salmon in Q2

Chilean fish farmer Salmones Camanchaca harvested 11,643 tonnes (whole fish equivalent) of Atlantic salmon in the second quarter of this year, it said in a market update. This is nearly double the 6,400 tonnes harvested in the same period last year. 

No coho salmon were harvested during the quarter.

The average weight of harvested fish rose from 4.4 kilos in the first quarter of 2024 to 5.0 kilos, while the ex-cage cost fell to US $4.99 per kg from $5.28 per kg in Q1.

Sales during Q2 2024 were approximately 11,000 tonnes of Atlantic and 2,100 tonnes of coho. The inventory of coho was reduced by approximately 50% at the end of Q2 compared to March 31, 2024.

Salmones Camanchaca estimates a harvest of between 46,000 - 48,000 tonnes (2023: 44,100 tonnes) of Atlantic salmon for 2024, along with 4,000 - 5,000 tonnes (11,400 tonnes) of coho.
