“Aquaculture is an attractive and growing industry essential to our future. I look forward to joining a world leading company such as Cermaq and contributing to Cermaq’s development and successes,” said Grimsrud in a press release.

Grimsrud takes over from acting CFO Erlend Reiten, who will take up a new role of chief transformation officer (CTO). Both changes apply from September 1.

Geir Molvik: Cermaq wants to be a leader in new technology.

Head of strategy

Reiten has been with Cermaq since 2016 and comes from the role of head of strategy.

Prior to joining Cermaq Reiten, who has a Master’s degree in economics from Oxford, spent five years at The Boston Consulting Group.

Cermaq chief executive Geir Molvik said: “We want to be at the forefront when it comes to operational standards and application of new technology.

“The CTO will hold responsibility for establishing and developing best practice sharing and the ability to continuously improve across the company.

“Erlend has worked closely with the executive team during his time in Cermaq and I’m confident that his experience and motivation will be a key driver towards reaching our strategic ambitions.”

Norway-headquartered Cermaq is owned by Japanese industrial giant Mitsubishi and is one of the world's leading salmon and trout farmers, with operations in Norway, Chile and Canada.
