Grieg harvest fell short of expectations in Q4
Norway and Canada salmon farmer Grieg Seafood harvested approximately 23,400 gutted weight tonnes of fish in the fourth quarter of 2024, the company said in a trading update.
The harvest volume included 5,300 gwt from Placentia Bay, Newfoundland, where the company has exclusive rights to grow salmon and is slowly increasing production volume.
Harvesting in British Columbia, Canada, was completed for the year in the third quarter after operations were affected by an algal bloom that significantly impacted survival rate and impacted growth.
Below guidance
The Q4 volume is 1,000 gwt lower than guided in Grieg’s Q3 report published in November. The company harvested 1,300 fewer tonnes than expected in Finnmark, northern Norway, and 400 fewer tonnes in Canada, but 700 more tonnes in Rogaland, Norway.
Harvest volume (GWT) by region for Q4 2024:
- Rogaland: 8,000
- Finnmark: 10,100
- British Columbia: 0 (zero)
- Newfoundland: 5,300
The complete Q4 2024 report will be released on Thursday, February 20.
