Atlantic Canada gets ready for Cold Harvest 2019
Newfoundland is preparing to host the 26th annual Cold Harvest conference and trade show.
From September 24 to 26 members of the Canadian aquaculture industry will converge at the Delta Hotel in St John’s to discuss aquaculture in Atlantic Canada. Innovation, technology, human resources and consumer trends will be topics of discussion during panels and discovery sessions. There will also be networking sessions to help connect industry members.
As part of the Cold Harvest Conference and Trade show, the Newfoundland Aquaculture Industry Association (NAIA) is organizing a Global Cleanerfish Workshop in collaboration with Memorial University. The main purpose of the workshop is to survey the state of cleaner fish production globally, fill knowledge gaps, scale-up of production and the use of cleaner fish (lumpfish and cunner) in Atlantic Canada. The workshop will feature international expert speakers from Canada, United Kingdom, Faroe Islands, Belgium, Norway, Ireland and Iceland.

Rex Murphy
Rex Murphy is a Canadian member of the media and will be opening the event with a keynote address. He has been one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s most celebrated journalists and social commentators since the 1970s. He has also been a columnist for The Globe and Mail and currently for the National Post. Murphy has won several national and provincial broadcasting awards. He has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Waterloo, honorary doctorates of letters by Memorial, St Thomas, and Nipissing Universities and was awarded the Honorary Fellowship of the Canadian Institute of Management.
Last year Cold Harvest hosted 450 attendees and sold out before the event took place. This year, Cold Harvest 2019 added additional exhibition space to accommodate 500 registered guests.
