Chile grows US exports

Chile was the largest exporter of salmon and trout to the USA in the first two months of the year, with exports reaching 26,509 tonnes - an increase of 12.8 per cent in volume compared to the same period of 2015 (23,491 tonnes).

However, the value of these exports fell to US$ 212.51 million, down by 8.6 per cent decrease compared to the first two months of 2015.

Canada was in second place, exporting 14,869 tonnes, for a value of US$ 94.10 million - an increase of 18.4 in volume and 8.7 in value.

According to the trade data published by the Fisheries Statistics Division of the NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service, Norway was in third place, selling 7,106 tonnes for a value of US$ 65.81 million, an increase of 14.7% in volume and 11.1% in value.

Meanwhile, China (China, Hong Kong and Taipei) exported 9,039 tonnes, worth US$ 49.86 million the UK 1,679 tonnes, worth US$ 14.22 million.
