The volcanic activity affected facilities of eight companies, causing severe economic damage to infrastructure and losses of over 30 million fish (including eggs), according to figures provided by the Chilean Service of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Sernapesca).

Due to the heavy volcanic ash that fell on Camanchaca's site Río Petrohué, that facility suffered from significant damage such as collapsing roofs and structures, which led to the loss of 2,446,713 from a total of 9,590,707 fish.

Recovery

The company received an insurance for the biomass of US$ 2.1 million last October while in November it received an additional US$ 4.8 million as advanced payment from the insurance for the fixed assets.

Meanwhile, in September, the hatchery started operating again with 2.88 million eggs, while in November this process was completed when the fry room was again operational.
